Moving to Chicago from Miami where should I live & are the winters really THAT BAD?

lincoln park is where the more well to do and college students live; it's a nice area nonetheless, mostly the nicer areas are north of downtown; lakeview would be a good place for younger people or couples, and yes winters are that bad
