How can ity be a sin if people can't help themselves?

Coming out as being gay can be veryy difficult even in societies where they are sorta accepted, why would anyone put themselves through that, unless they are actually biologically attracted to the same ...I mean they can't help themselves, it's not just a trend or something so how can it be sinful if they were born that way??
