Why does the bible claim a genealogy for Jesus when...?

at the time the geneology was only for men. Joseph was reportedly not the biological father of Jesus, so why list the geneology. Technically Jesus did not decend from that bloodline and and thus did not fufil that part of the prophesy in given by Isiah.
