What should i do for a torn acl?

since april my acl has been torn but i just found out in june that it has happened so i didn't get the surgery or the right rehab. but since then my swelling has gone down, i have full range of motion. but my balance is a little off.I also have lifted weights with my legs, but i don't know if its healthy enough. so should i get the surgery or just continue what i've been doing? and what type of exercises should i do? I need help!!
